Native Gold On Quartz
Ballarat, Victoria, Australia
Size: 2.8 x 5.7 x 2.2 cm (small cabinet)
A snow-white, hackly quartz matrix hosts two spots of butter-yellow, leafy native gold. The piece is a very attractive gold-matrix specimen with a good size from the world-famous deposit Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. The piece comes from an older German collection and was found in the 60ies. The gold is not etched out of the quartz. Other smaller spots of gold and a small amount of pyrite are also visible on the piece.
