Shaft 186, Alberoda, Schlema-Hartenstein, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany
Size:
Size: 8.1 × 9.6 × 5.5 cm (cabinet) / Largest crystal: 2.5 cm
Description:
Silvery, sparkling and well formed, herringbone-shaped crystals of native silver to about 2.5 cm in length - well arranged on black native arsenic and at that the whole ensemble is accompanied and framed by beige to pink baryte. All sides of this unique and very aesthetical silver specimen are covered with lustrous metallic silver crystals. On the specimen's back you see smaller but also very well-formed silver crystals (picture 6 and further) .
Extremely rich and contrasty specimen from the worldfamous mining district Schlema-Hartenstein, Ore Mts., Saxony, Germany. It was found in the Shaft No 186b. Very, very hard to obtain such a quality on the shows today - especially in a cabinet size. Specimens size, crystal size, contrast, stability of the crystals, luster of the crystals and last but not least the combination with baryte are all extraordinary for that pristine piece. It is no exaggeration to say that this is an European classic at its best!
