Description:
Awesome acanthite specimen with numerous metallic grey and lustrous "pseudo-cubic" acanthite crystals (acanthite pseudomorphic after argentite cubes) up to 0.6 cm in size. The acanthite is accompanied by beige siderite (German "Braunspat") which is a common paragenesis for this worldfamous and historic German locality: Himmelfürst Mine, Brand-Erbisdorf, Freiberg-District, Saxony, Germany. This fine collectors specimen has the following dimensions: 3.8 x 6.8 x 1.5 cm. The piece comes from the Depot of Bergakademie Freiberg, Sektion Geowissenschaften with the corresponding older label. Silver minerals - especially such uncommon large and pretty good-looking acanthite specimens with distinct pseudocubic crystals are highly sought after European classics and very hard to obtain. Mounted on an acrylic display - just if you wand. Otherwise I can remove it.
